Bass Lake & Mariposa
Bass Lake
Originally, this community was known as Crane Valley because the broad grassy meadows were the rendezvous for the great flocks of the Sandhill Crane. In 1985, a lake was formed over the meadows when a dam was built for the first hydroelectric generator in the county.
Surrounded by towering Ponderosa Pines which grown to the water‚s edge, homes range from the cottages of yester-year to modern day construction. An area of true four seasons, Bass Lake offers year -round recreational activities.
Mariposa
Located on State Highway 49, the charm of an old mining town harmonized perfectly with the natural loveliness of the of Sierra Nevada foothills. Founded in the gold rush days, Mariposa has every reason to be a ghost town but instead is a thriving community. It is experiencing healthy growth while remaining dedicated to maintaining its rich, rustic charm and identity.
