The Oakhurst Area
Known, originally, as Fresno Flats because of the mountain meadows along the Fresno River, Oakhurst has become the center of the mountain communities, both for residents and travelers. Able to retain its "small town" flavor, there are still friendly words and waves for many visitors passing through to visit the nearby vacation areas. It is an active community with "hometown" events planned throughout the year by the many organizations and clubs. Twice a year, in May and September, the town becomes an open air market as the Mountain Peddlers Fair unfolds its wares in the biggest event of the year. |
